U Things We Appreciate
Voices raised in Unison at ball games or a church
Slim Unbroken Crayons, though smaller pieces work
A rustle in the Underbrush of skyward reaching trees
The cool relief of
hair Upswept
upon a gentle breeze
And Umbrellas that close up instead of down.
Oh! And one last thing - Underwater wonders!
Happy Tuesday U
Day!
Any thoughts? Can you add to the list of things we appreciate
that begin with the letter U?
Hi, diedre!
ReplyDeleteU hit upon a great idea, one that will raise the bar and increase the degree of difficulty for all future A To Z Challenges. From now on every post must take the form of a poem. :) Yours was very nicely composed, dear friend!
Voices raised in unison amplify the sound and multiply its impact. A favorite song immediately springs to mind - the magnificent Viking opus "Seven Widows Weep" from the album Perils of the Deep Blue by the Norwegian gothic metal band Sirenia:

I believe you and I discussed aromatherapy a while back. To "that new car smell" and "that new book smell" I wish to add the smell of a newly opened box of crayons. Is there a scent that brings more delight to a child? I think not!
There have been stormy days in Florida when my umbrella closed up instead of down even though it was not designed to do so. :)
It is time for me to cut the Umbilical, leave the comfort and warmth of Pensive Pens and move on to the next blog. Thank U, dear friend diedre, and have a wonderful day!
Hi Shady!
DeleteThanks for the kind words ;-) I did take part in a month-long Poem Fest once. We were given daily prompts. Once was enough ;-)
The variance of your musical tastes is amazing,my friend. Thanks for the tip on Sirenia.
A brand new box of crayons makes me want to color - immediately. They do have a distinctive smell, don't they?
There really is a new type of Umbrella that closes up to allow you to get in the car without getting wet. Personally, I like walking in the rain.
"the Umbilical" - Good one, dear Shady!
Hi Diedre - the United Kingdom of Britain ... can't say I want it to split asunder ... might do one day! However did you mention umbrella for keeping us dry ... and undercover, or lots of other Us ...cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHi Hilary!
DeleteWonderful additions! Asunder... I feel the same way. Undercover is a perfect story prompt! Thank you ;-)
Sitting under a shady tree on a hot day comes to my mind. I enjoyed your post. They're all things that I appreciate, too. :-)
