2018 A - Z Challenge - D

D      Things We Appreciate

Happy National Walking Day! Can you believe it’s been 43 years since Microsoft was founded? Not long after that, Windows was introduced, as well as about a million other apps that assist in how we work and write every day. I bet even Doc Holliday would call that a “Daisy.”

It’s fair to say we’ve got a daisy of a dual going on today, this first Wednesday of the month, when IWSG members convene through blogging, Facebook, and Twitter to talk about whatever is on our writing minds and agendas. See what we’re all talking about here

AND, we’re four days into the 2018 April A – Z Challenge!

As you might imagine, I not only appreciate but and am quite pleased with my weekly word count these days, even if it’s only temporary ;-) In addition, my writing journey this month includes cleaning up Dialogue between characters from distinctly different regions. I think that Diction may be the key to show; rather than telling, their Diversities. Your thoughts?

And, speaking of cleaning up, my Dishwasher is much appreciated after holiday dinners with the family. No one ever seems to mind using second-string utensils for Dessert. But the appliance that completes the whole clean-up routine is the Disposal. I don’t know how I ever managed without one (though I did once write a Dear John Letter to my disposal, as a creative writing exercise). Oh, we tried the composting technique for a time, when we had a garden. This is what happened:

Time to twist the Dimmer Switch,

Happy Writing!

Any thoughts? Can you add to the list of things we appreciate that begin with the letter D?

  1. Hi, diedre!

I see you Decided to kill two Dodos with one stone by combining the April blogging challenge with the traditional first Wednesday post. You should order a special vanity license plate for your car: A2Z-IWSG. :)

I appreciate Dialogue Driven writing and agree that Differences in characters' Diction help reveal Diversity.

Mrs. Shady and I hosted a cookout Saturday. Although we ate on paper plates, the Dishwasher was bursting at the seams by the time the guests left for home. I Dreaded the cleanup chores.

"D" is for "diedre," and I thank you for another entertaining and informative post, Dear friend!

    1. Hi Shady!

Ha - love your idea for a vanity plate!

Aw, Mrs. Shady appreciates your help, I'm sure. A cookout sounds nice, we should have had one last weekend but were watching "Coco" with the kids, instead. Good times ;-)

      Your comments are delightful!

  2. Good luck with the Challenge. I miss it, but seven years was enough.
Sorry so late. Don't know why I have the hardest time finding your blog!
