While living in Asheville, NC, I never saw a single one, while here; in my hometown, their numbers of late seem to rival that of the immigrant population. Until then, it was only something I'd seen on television. I was shocked to learn that so many people lived on the streets or spent their days asking for change. Definitely a touchy subject!
